Collagen and the Supplement Routine

Collagen and your skin is something that is important not only for your health, but a way to keep that youthful look.

The search for an internal product, such as supplements, that improves the body’s skin with visible results has so far lasted 30 years for us.

Having a routine that is effective, but not difficult to keep up with is something we’re asked quite frequently after each Collagen Induction Therapy session, but also just in general as a home how-to.

In the last 30 years, here are some conclusions we’ve seen and come up with:

  1. When looking at a baby’s skin, you can tell it seems to have a translucent quality because of increased hydration and collagen levels. As we age, the collagen production and hydration levels decrease. BioCell Collagen provides combined benefits of chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid, glucosamine sulfate, and amino acids. What does that mean? BioCell Collagen helps retain moisture, and modulate the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.
  2. Taking collagen supplements can reduce inflammation and stimulate collagen which may help promote pain relief for people with joint disorders. Reduction of any inflammation concerning joint health is a plus.
  3. Collagen supplements may help bone mineral density thereby reducing the risk of bone disorders.
  4. There are two general forms of supplemental collagen: Collagen protein (some physicians recommend taking them at night as they can provide a low form of protein for blood sugar levels), and collagen peptides (a bio available form). At Lasting Image Face and Body we carry Pure Encapsulation, a brand that physicians carry with no GMO’s, artificial colors, flavors, binders and preservatives.

In conclusion, we’ve found that any form of collagen support helps with skin rejuvenation and has some other beneficial results.
